The Hidden Secret of New Zealand Nature

New Zealand’s stunning scenery has captivated millions of ‘The Lord of the Rings’ and ‘Hobbit’ fans around the world.

The story of the ‘Home of Middle-Earth’ began long before the dinosaurs roamed the Earth. The land where each day on the eastern horizon the sun rises from the depth of the Pacific Ocean carrying with it the promise of infinite potential and new beginnings is known as Aotearoa, ‘the land of the ever-shining light’, the land where the first light of a new day greets the Earth.

Gondwanaland, a supercontinent that existed 510-120 million years ago, was the originator of New Zealand.

Millions of years ago the primordial continent of Gondwanaland, the great southern land, started to break apart and form smaller continents creating a little isolated oasis with green rolling hills.

This was the creation of New Zealand.

“From the outside looking in, New Zealand is a piece of precious green jewel floating in the enormity of the Pacific Ocean.” – Dr David Bellamy

According to Maori tradition the great atua Tane Mahuta, the lord of the forest, created all the forests in New Zealand.

Maori legends say that New Zealand was Tane’s treasure chest and in this chest, he carefully placed his most precious creations.

“… The Land of the Long White Cloud took on a new fascination for me: a land of botanical treasures, of ferns and their close relatives, some of which had first stood upright on earth more than 350 million years ago; of trees, mighty enough to have sheltered dinosaurs; and of lower-bearing plants that evolved unmolested by the teeth of herbivorous mammals. A land of wonders.” – Dr David Bellamy

While in other parts of the world the native forests were felled or cleared in ancient times to develop agricultural land, New Zealand’s isolation meant that New Zealand developed its own completely unique eco-system.

New Zealand’s native flora developed extraordinary characteristics that exist nowhere else on Earth.

When the first waka bringing the Maori arrived in New Zealand many trees in the native forests of New Zealand carried unbroken lineages from the time of Gondwanaland.

Because of this, New Zealand native plants carry the natural blueprint for a perfect state of wellbeing.

“Aotearoa is a precious nature reserve that has been set aside to help the world community to return to wholeness.” – Dr Rangimarie Turuki Arikirangi Rose Pere

In this land of breathtaking beauty grow the remarkable collection of flowersfernstrees, seeds and plants that have the mana, power, to change the world and restore harmony on Earth.
