If you happened to use Rescue Remedy before going to an important meeting, you are no novice to flower essences. Flower essences are the most simplistic and most ancient method of holistic healing. Because they are so simple it may be the reason why they are so little understood today.

Most people think that flower essences are the same thing as homeopathic and herbal remedies. While there is a similarity, they are made differently and they work differently. Homeopathic and herbal remedies are made by crushing, drying, boiling or brewing parts of plants to extract the plant’s beneficial physical properties to produce an herbal or homeopathic remedy.

Flower essences are made using sunshine, pure water and plant – the part of plant that has the highest concentration of energy (electromagnetic pattern of a plant also known as prana, chi, life-force). The sun is used to encode the plant’s energy into water using a natural alchemical process.

“Let not the simplicity of this method deter you from its use, for you will find the further your researches advance, the greater you will realise the simplicity of all creation.” – Dr Edward Bach

What are flower essences?

Flower essences are plant energies held in water.

They are 100% natural and because they are made using a natural process, they carry nature’s perfect pattern of harmony and balance.

While flower essences are simple they are capable of helping us address complex issues.

For thousands of years, Australian Aborigines and Native Americans collected dew from flowers to assist holistic wellbeing.

The Maori of New Zealand have long used the energy of native flowers and plants to support harmony and balance on all levels, including physical, emotional, mental and spiritual.

Bach flower remedies

The use of modern-day flower essences was pioneered by a medical doctor, Dr Edward Bach in England in the 1930’s. Dr Bach believed that dew found on flower petals retained healing properties of the plant. He created 39 flower essences to help transform negative personality attitudes, which he believed were the root cause of dis-ease.

“Treat the patients personality not his disease.” – Dr Edward Bach

When Dr Bach created the Bach range of flower essences 80 years ago they were perfectly positioned to help people of that time.

The new generation of flower essences

Environmental pollution, sensory overstimulation, disconnection from nature, breaking up of family units and communities and intense daily stress are leaving a tragic footprint on the face of the Earth and on our health and wellbeing.

The challenges people face today cannot be treated without addressing all levels of the holistic human makeup.

“As we move into the 21st century, we will need more flower essence remedies to cope with new stresses and strains.” – Chris Cooper, Natural Healing in New Zealand

And indeed, today many natural therapists are finding that their clients are no longer able to get the desired results with the remedies from the old range of flower essences.

Mary Garbely, New Zealand flower essence pioneer, observed that children born to New Age parents didn’t respond to the Bach flower remedies. In 1990, Mary Garbely wrote that there was ‘a need for new flower essences that would reflect a new consciousness in people‘.

In cooperation with nature power of Aotearoa

Dr Bach said ‘health depends on being in harmony with our souls’.

Because New Zealand native plants are the only ones that carry the most potent vibration of wholeness, they can assist in healing the split between body and soul, the root of the dis-harmony that people experience today.

Every flower has its own personality, its own electromagnetic pattern. That’s why each flower essence carries its own unique qualities and has a unique purpose and effect.

How to take flower essences

First Light Natural Health® products are the 21st-century flower essence remedies made exclusively from native New Zealand plants. They come in 20ml spray and 20ml dropper bottles made from amber glass.

Use 2-4 drops/sprays 2-4 times a day. Once the remedy is opened it is recommended to use it until it is finished (about 4-6 weeks). If you stop, you can restart when you need it again.

Use drops/sprays directly under the tongue or add the drops to drinking water. If using a water bottle to sip through the day, use 8 drops.

Professionally made flower essences are natural holistic preparations that can be used regularly and long-term.

Flower essences and other medication

Although flower essences are often thought of as alternative medicines, it is more correct to think of them as complementary.

They work well with all other forms of treatment, whether mainstream Western or other holistic therapies such as homeopathy, herbalism, aromatherapy or acupuncture.

Flower essences can be taken by adults, children and babies.

If you are pregnant or have a medical condition or are being medically supervised, it is always best to tell your doctor what you are planning to take.

Because First Light Natural Health® remedies are made from native plants that grow wild and free in the ancient forests of Aotearoa, they carry the pure essences of New Zealand nature.
